This is a Mocha Mud Pie from Friday’s, and it’s gooood!

We didn’t really order this in the first place. I got a discount coupon from Kath, our finance head, and we decided to eat at Friday’s last… Friday. Our order was a bit late so Mac, our server, gave us free dessert. That was very nice of him but we didn’t expect much of a dessert. Imagine our surprise when he gave us their best seller! Mac’s excuse? Well, he didn’t like the other desserts so he gave this to us!

So do try this when you swing by Friday’s, and do look for Mac if you happen dine at their Glorietta branch :-)

Isn’t it wonderful how technology brings people together, changing how we communicate and breaking down barriers along the way. I was reminded of this last Saturday when we went to Tita Elvie’s 50th birthday in Laguna. Seems like Skype calls are now a standard whenever Joie’s family gets together and this is no exception. Definitely the highlight of the day!

Look who dropped by yesterday!

Anne was the PSIA executive director until she decided to pursue further studies in Australia last year. It was a one year course on IT and it’s great to see her in the flesh again!

We had lunch at World Chicken in Greenbelt where she shared stories of life in Australia as well as her course and how hard it was, being compressed to a year and all. I was happy to know that her Java training, which we conducted, was able to help her in her studies!

She’s getting married this year and I realized that you need to do things like study again, etc, before you settle down. Something to remember in case I’m faced with the same opportunity as her :-).

Ho Chi Minh

This sums up my trip to Ho Chi Minh at the start of this year. And I can’t wait to go back! I felt as if I was in a different world, in a strange new land full of things waiting to be discovered. I didn’t feel that when I was in Houston more than a year ago. I guess the difference in language and culture made me feel the way I did.

If there is one thing I regret from the trip it is not exploring the city enough. We mostly had tours going through the more famous places. I guess that’s to be expected on the first trip though - at least we got that out of the way so when we come back we can spend more time on our own.

Much thanks to Redel of Alfronon Travel and Tours who organized our trip. We stayed at Kingston Hotel and went with Sinh Cafe for the tours. Very much enjoyed the package that they came up with for us :-).

passed Ateneo and got in the MIS program which was my 2nd choice
gone to KFC with my future college barkada, the Dream Team, where Jun is part of
accepted the job offer from where I work now met up with Jun on that Tuesday where he told me about a trip to Zambales Saturday, which I had a meeting scheduled on, only to be canceled Friday night
gone to Zambales with Jun and a group of strangers, who we now call ourselves “Trippers”
gone back to Manila on the 14th of December after extending from 2 to 6 weeks in Houston, Texas
gone to the Trippers Christmas Party on the 16th and told a certain someone that Cainta was on the way to Fairview (it’s not)

Then I probably wouldn’t be as happy as I am right now.

This was my first time in Terminal 2 and the free WiFi and laptop stations made a very positive impression on me. The other two terminals (1 and 3) don’t have these. We flew PAL on our way to Ho Chi Minh earlier today, and this terminal is dedicated to PAL’s fleet. Missing our original plan of an end of 2009 trip via Cebu Pacific due to me booking late was actually a good thing!

Not much food choices in Terminal 2 compared to the others though, which is the most visible downside I noticed. We were forced to eat at Delifrance (my first time) early on and we weren’t able to follow up near our flight due to long lines. Good thing good food was served after we took off - that made the flight memorable.

This shot would have been better if I had my eyes open.

I first discovered this on a trip to Batagas with my officemates a few years back. Other people can open theirs fine though, so I guess I’m just more sensitive.

I need sunglasses, but I never was lucky in finding one that fits me and looks good on me. Maybe that’s the problem: I shouldn’t rely on luck and instead on finding out what will fit me best.
